Over the past year there's been many speculation and uncertainty relating to Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games, and their partnership with parent company Take-Two Interactive. One of them was that the founders of Rockstar Games won't extend their contract, which expires next year February. This would come at a price though, as they would give up all their intellectual property owned by Take-Two, including the GTA brand.

But that's been put to rest as it's been announced that final negotiations have been completed and the contract extended to January 31, 2012 - making the possibility of at least one more major GTA title possible. Key Rockstar Games employees, such as founders Sam and Dan Houser, as well as R* North studio head and GTA producer Leslie Benzies, have all agreed to stay. Under the terms, they are all part of a profit sharing agreement.

Further news were announced. In addition to already established intellectual properties owned by Take-Two that's to be developed by Rockstar Games, the parent company Take-Two has agreed to fund certain new properties which would be owned by a newly formed company controlled by key Rockstar Games team members, and naturally published by T2. Nothing more on this, but an announcement would probably be made along at least one title in the new year.
