Magnificent and stunning, yet dangerous and breathtaking. They are world's most dangerous roads. Driving, you get the impression of touching the sky. Through difficult hairpin turns and steep inclines, you may have the change to admire the unbelievable landscapes these roads open in front of you.

Most of the roads presented seem to be created by nature without any human involvement. They were made through huge rocks, steep slopes, and stones, and they are world's most dangerous roads. And they are not the only ones.

The North Yungas Road (Road of Death), Bolivia

They call it ?El Camino de la Muerte, or ?The Road of Death?. It stretches for about 70 km and most of the road is only 3.2 meters wide. The road that connects La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia, to Coroico, ascends to around 4.650 meters at La Cumbre Pass, and descends to 1.200 meters at the town of Coroico. Having a single lane and lacking guard walls, the North Yungas Road was named world's most dangerous road. A trip on this route can become a real adventure. It is estimated that around 200 to 300 people are killed every year on this road of terror.

And this is totally true, as most of the accidents that take place inside the tunnel are caused by the travelers negligence. With 1.200 meters length, 4 meters width and 30 windows to enjoy the landscape, the Guoliang tunnel is placed among the most dangerous roads in the world. Trollstigen, Norway

One of the most stunning roads on the Fjord in Norway is the Trollstigen, or the ?Troll Ladder?. Even though it has many safety standards, the hairpins and the steep inclines require a lot of concentration and attention. The road is rather narrow, thus making almost impossible for vehicles to pass each other. All the way up, the landscape is incredible with amazing waterfalls, the most neautiful being the Stigfossen waterfall that drops right along and under the Trollstigen.

All around the world there are breathtaking, yet dangerous roads. Halsema Highway on the island of Luzon in Philippines is one of them. It is a narrow road, mostly unpaved, running through a dangerous area famous for the rock and mud slides. ?The devils backbone?, or "El Espinazo Del diablo? is the mountain pass in Durango, Mexico. It is well maintained and there are many cautionary signs along the road. The next road is actually the highest paved road in the world and it connects Pakistan with China, the Karakoram Highway.
